Whimsy Play Café is a place for families on the Côte d’Azur to gather, play,
and connect.
We will offer a welcoming café space in Nice for parents with an open play area for little ones, as well as a variety of enrichment classes (led in English) for
young children.

All classes are led or facilitated in English, to create a comforting space for those little ones who already speak English, and to provide an immersive language learning environment (the most effective way to learn!) for those who are being exposed to English as a second language.
(6 - 18 months old)
Tiny hands, big creativity!
This sensory-rich art class is designed especially for babies and young toddlers starting to explore the world through touch, texture, and color. With all taste-safe, baby-friendly materials, your little one will squish, smear, and swirl their way through early artistic play while strengthening their motor skills and indulging their emerging curiosity. Babies and their parents/caregivers will create and explore side-by-side, making art a joyful shared experience — without having to clean up the mess at home!

This class is perfect for two year olds who will be beginning preschool/maternelle the following year, as it will expose them to a variety of materials and concepts that they are likely to tackle in their first year of preschool. The purpose of this class is to allow them to work on important skills like very early literacy & mathematics, being in a group/classroom environment, gently expanding their attention span, and building the social skills with their peers that are vital to the early schooling years. This will all be done in a natural, learning-through-play environment, with multiple spaces set up for them to explore independently or alongside a parent or teacher, with additional teacher-directed activities mixed in as well. Parents are encouraged to sign their children up for this class on a regular basis so that their children’s comfort and skills continue to grow as the months progress, and parents will be able to step back more and more as the weeks go on (able to enjoy a cup of coffee and a chat with other parents!) so that their child’s autonomy in a learning environment continues to grow.

More movement, more mess, more magic!
As your toddler grows in both confidence and coordination, this class offers slightly more structured creative exploration while still being centered around open-ended, process-based art. From painting with brushes and other tools, to sensory bins filled with a variety of interestingly textured materials, and exploring new artistic mediums like real clay, your child will dive into hands-on activities that support cognitive, emotional, and motor development. It’s all about freedom to create, confidence to try, and connection with you in a relaxed, social setting.
(4 months - 3 years old)
It’s a different kind of BYOB…you can bring your own baby along to this class! But after you do bring them, you’ll get to take a blissful break to focus on yourself and your fitness. Your child will be entertained with activities such as sensory play, creative painting, building towers, working with Montessori materials and more, while you enjoy an endorphin boost that will leave you feeling fantastic for the rest of the day. It’s a win/win!
(8 months - 3 years old)
Mini Movers is an active movement class that invites crawlers and toddlers to explore their growing physical abilities and turn big energy into constructive movement. Young children will build coordination, balance, body awareness, and confidence in their physical abilities through fun, safe, and open-ended gross motor opportunities. With tunnels, cushions, mini climbing structures, and obstacle courses, little ones will be challenging their bodies while enjoying themselves to the fullest!
This class allows babies & toddlers to stretch their musical muscles by singing, clapping, and wiggling along to new songs together! Young children are naturally drawn to music, and singing is one of the ways that a language (whether English is their first or second language!) is best learned. While younger babies will enjoy listening to new sounds, older babies will enjoy giving small instruments a try and babbling along, and toddlers will be exposed to new vocabulary & rhythms, while being encouraged to sing loudly & proudly! Parents & caregivers will sing and shake instruments alongside their children, providing the opportunity for the bond they form during class to continue outside of it, as they recall the songs they sang together and recite them again together at home.

All 2025 classes will be taking place in a home setting, in a mini classroom environment within the home, set up intentionally for each class. For this reason, places are limited so that the number of children & parents in attendance is well-suited to the available space.
From early 2026, classes will move to our new play café location, and we look forward to welcoming you to that space and being able to accommodate even more children in each class session.
